Ladyfinger, also known as okra or bhindi in some regions, is a green, elongated vegetable with a tapering end. It belongs to the mallow family and is prized for its tender texture and unique mucilaginous (slimy) properties when cooked. The outer skin is smooth and often has ridges running along its length. Inside, it contains small, round, edible seeds surrounded by a soft, gelatinous flesh.
